For your consideration, this dazzling Art Deco era 18K yellow gold & platinum topped diamond & sapphire bar brooch pin. Brooches center has a small 3.25mm rose cut diamond and 6 tiny accent diamond chips. Four tiny square cut sapphires flank each side of the brooch, and sapphire chips form a circular frame around the center diamond mount. Brooch has a functioning locking clasp that is unmarked but tests 18k & platinum face. Brooch has a total length of approximately 2″ and a width of 3/16″ (at widest point) with a total weight of 3.3 Grams. Metal content was checked using a Niton DXL Spectral XRF precious metal analyzer. Brooch is presented in very good overall condition, shows normal wear for age, please see magnified photos. 14k Gold Victorian Etruscan Handpainted Porcelain Cherub Locket Bar Pin Brooch. Offered today is a rare antique Victorian 14k gold Etruscan Revival locket bar brooch, with a sweet, winged handpainted porcelain cherub dropping flower petals as the centerpiece. You don’t see these very often, with the pin actually being a locket. It could symbolize a wedding, and may have been worn for a bridal ceremony way back in the day. The cherub is painted upon an iridescent burgundy-colored background, and becomes the front portion of what is actually a locket, with a glass compartment. The arms of the pin culminate in a fan-shaped design at each end, with Etruscan beadwork, and four scrolls decorate the cherub centerpiece. The brooch closes with an early long C-clasp style, and the gold bead at the end of the pin stem assists in keeping the brooch securely closed when worn. You can pry the back glass portion of the locket open with your fingernail, and it pushes back in easily. This unique brooch-locket has been thoroughly tested and it tests strongly positive for 14k gold (it could be 15k gold), although we could find no hallmarks. It measures 2 1/2″ by 3/4″. It weighs 9.2 grams, and is in excellent vintage condition, especially considering the age.
