Antique 9ct Rose Gold Double Albertian Fob Watch Chain Graduated Link 40cm 1890s. Solid 9ct rose gold. Hallmarked 375 9ct, crown, anchor and PD&SS. The fob chain is a graduated link style (small link to large link). Each link is stamped 375. The fob chain is in marvellous condition, showing a few fine scratches and very small amounts of wear. The link style is a curb link. PD&SS were an unregistered jewellery distributor. Not much infomation is available online about the company. The gold purity of this fob chain has been tested and it was confirmed to be solid 9ct rose gold (37.5% purity). The chain has undergone no visible repairs during its life. All of the links are soldered, including all of the jump rings that hold the T-bar and dog clasps. The T-bar is original to the chain and it has never undergone any modifications. It is part of the chain rather than free floating like a pendant so it doesnt slide up and down the chain. The dog clasps are both original to the chain. One of the clasps is ever so slightly bent. Does not affect it one bit and it wont need repairs. The clasps are quite thick and they are showing the most overall wear on the chain. The wear is still very minimal and difficult to notice. No links have been added or removed. None of the links are showing any significant wear as the fob chain hasnt seen much use in its 120+ years. The chain was very dirty when I received it which is a common result for stored victorian jewellery. The fob chain is 40cm in length. The smallest links are 4.6mm in width and 2.1mm in thickness. The largest links are 6.6mm in width and 3.2mm in thickness. The T-bar is 38.0mm in length and 2.4mm in diameter. The dog clasps are 22.5mm in length and they will fit any standard size pocket watch bow or medallion. In perfectly wearable condition. Can be worn as a necklace or as a double Albertina fob watch chain. Will be posted with a jewellery pouch. Please view the pictures for more infomation.
