A REALLY STUNNING ART NOUVEAU SUFFRAGETTE 9CT YELLOW GOLD REAL TURQUOISE & CRYSTAL BROOCH, & 1.80 GRAMS. GIVE WOMEN THE VOTE’ CRYSTAL SETTING! This brooch features real turquoise stones. This is antique 9ct gold and marked to the rear, with the stamp. The setting feature’s the sought after G ive W omen the V ote crystal setting! This brooch dates from around 1895 or maybe a little earlier. The brooch has a total carat weight of 1.80 grams. This type brooch is exceptionally rare todays market and were not available commercially in period, so many would have been adapted from period brooches by jobbing jewellers, resulting in some unusual designs and a large range of styles. This brooch is from an earlier period and would have been up to 10 years old when adapted and is of good quality, so a rare survivor? The glass stones featured are Peridot for Green, Amethyst for Violet, clear crystal for White, supposedly symbolizing the Suffragette movements mantra, Give Women the Vote? These colours were first adopted in C1900 and the colours represent G reen for Hope, W hite for purity and V iolet for dignity. Is in a wonderful classic period design and is made of 9ct gold. It is picked out in. Sparkling peridot, amethyst & clear crystals and real a real sapphire & seed pearls. The overall affect is one of great charm. The brooch has a simple bar clasp to the rear which is in good order and is not made of gold. The stamp is visible. The brooch measures 1.5” in length and is 0.25” wide. It has an outstanding period patina and has been well loved in the past. Is a charming period retailers presentation box in brown leatherette, with a black velvet pad. It has a lovely satin interior. It is antique condition 2 or 3 and is undamaged, but shows age related wear to both the exterior and interior. The hidden hinge cover is very worn. It shows a wonderful period patina. This item is in antique condition 1. There is no damage to any of the components apart from surface scratching to the larger glass crystals and some age related delamination to the metal work including minor marking to the metal, which does not detract from the items charm or wear ability.
